Anil Yildirim’s research focuses on the development of high-performance tools for multidisciplinary design optimization frameworks. These include robust nonlinear solvers and tools that enable formulation of industry-relevant design optimization problems. With these, his goal is to create design optimization frameworks that speed up the development of next generation aircraft, while not compromising performance or safety. In this context, the FXB fellowship enabled him to pursue research ideas without worrying about the resources to perform these studies. As a result, Anil was able to make great progress towards his vision, and he is very excited about the next steps he will take in this field. His goal after graduation is to work towards obtaining a faculty position and forming his research group to further advance the field of design optimization in aerospace engineering.
